Summer Johnson, CPB
Partner / President
Summer brings 25 years of medical billing experience to GCM and co-founded the company with Barbara Pross in 2006. During her time with GCM, Summer has worked with many clients of varied specialties including rheumatology, dialysis/nephrology, independent laboratory/pathology, radiology, and more.
When she’s not working, Summer enjoys spending time at her home in Florida kayaking, snorkeling, and exploring the many natural springs. She is also an adventurer at heart so she’s always into something “entertaining” with her husband and children.
Barbara Pross, CPC, CPMA, CPC-I, CEDC, COBGC, CEMC
Partner / Vice President
Barbara has been working in the medical field for 42 years and co-founded the company with Summer Johnson in 2006. She has experience as an office manager, a coder, and a documentation specialist among other things. She has worked with everything from one physician private practices to large hospitalist groups across the United States. Though she is now partially retired, Barbara still works a great deal with GCM in many capacities.
Outside of work, Barbara enjoys spending time with her children and grandchildren and her three rescue pups. Her favorite activities include hiking, camping, and riding her bicycle on the Townsend bike trail. As the family Scrabble champion, Barbara shows the same ruthlessness in board games she shows to insurance companies.
Demi Smith, CPC
Partner / Treasurer
Demi brings 12 years of experience to GCM. In the course of her career, she has worked with many specialties including psychiatry, obstetrics/gynecology, chiropractic, optometry, anesthesiology, and more. As a trained coder, Demi brings a great deal of insight and knowledge to GCM’s clients.
At her home on Douglas Lake, Demi enjoys spending time with her husband, two sons, and rescue dog Zoey. A born and bred Montana girl, Demi enjoys all things outdoors from boating to camping, hiking to hunting. Demi also spends quite a few weekends at concerts of her favorite bands.
Sarah Pross, CPC, CFPC, CPB
Partner / Secretary
Sarah has been working in the medical field for 15 years in companies both large and small. Though she has worked with many specialties, she is a primary care specialist and also handles most of the insurance credentialing for GCM’s clients.
During off-hours, Sarah enjoys reading and playing with her “pound puppy” Charley. A lover of both the beach and the mountains, she can often be found outside hiking or playing in the water. She is also a published poet and enjoys spending time with her writing community in the Knoxville area.
